Structure Jacking & Load Transfers

Concerned by the complexity of the Structural Alteration scheme in the initial design and looking for means to reduce the duration of works the GC contacted OTB Contracting for solutions. The solution proposed re-used some of the original permanent members already ordered but removed all the shoring and any risk of cracking by performing the load transfer prior to the elimination of the columns. Once the columns eliminated, the slab could be cut allowing for the creation of a large conference room on two levels in the very core of the building. The project was executed seemingly without any crack saving months and hundreds of thousends of dollars.
